As far as certification goes, I have recently passed the background check to volunteer at the Cedar Valley Humane Society, and a few months ago I cleared the much more extensive background check to proceed to training to become a foster parent.
I grew up with dogs and cats, and have always had a cat (except for the college years when I had a pet, out door squirrel)
I'm from a generation with a strong work ethic, I will never blow off caring for your pet because something more fun came along. You can enjoy your away time with peace of mind that your beloved pet is being well cared for.
