Hello, my name is Adam and I began my journey caring for animals at my hometown zoo in South Dakota. There, I got to meet and take care of some pretty amazing kinds of animals. I’ve prepared diets for giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and meerkats daily and gave them enrichment and assisted the zookeepers and veterinary staff with training and procedures. From my experience at the zoo, I found an opportunity working at a wildlife rehab center and enrolling in veterinary technician classes. I had my first veterinary assistant job at a cardiology specialty hospital and then I also worked in ER. I’m skilled in performing and monitoring vitals (heart rate, respiratory rate, temp, blood pressure) and administering oral, SQ, IM, and IV medications. I have excellent animal handling skills and I’m very patient and calm when doing so. I love caring for dogs and cats on a daily basis and have had some pretty great experiences sitting for pets, and especially ones with special medical needs. My last pet sitting gig was for a veterinarian I work with and she was very happy with how I took care of her 3 dogs and 2 cats and house while her and her husband went out of town for the weekend.
