As the first digital platform for finding and managing child care, Sittercity has long been dedicated to providing a safe environment for our families and sitters to connect. As parents ourselves, we know that trust is paramount, which is why we provide tools and information to help parents and caregivers make informed decisions — and why we use data to advance safer use of our platform every day.
We also know that the need for Internet safety extends far beyond our own platform, which is why we helped launch the first-of-its-kind Marketplace Risk Management Conference in 2015. This year, the event will take place on May 22 in San Francisco, bringing together more than 300 leaders in the sharing, on-demand, peer-to-peer and gig economy. Led by industry experts and academics across a wide range of disciplines, participants share trust and safety strategies that have been tested in real-world use and have the potential to improve all marketplace businesses.
As a pioneer in a category where safety is especially important, we’re proud to help lead the way forward. By sharing insights with our peers, including on-demand leaders like Lyft, Instacart, and Airbnb, we’re advancing a stronger foundation for an important part of the 21st-century economy.
At this year’s event, Sittercity CTO Sam de Freyssinet, Head of Operations Phil Brown and I will share our perspectives on trust and safety, drawing on over 45 years of combined experience in the tech industry.
I’ll moderate a panel of marketplace CEOs discussing trust and safety from an executive’s point of view, joined by Trish Lukasik of Luxury Garage Sale and Joanna Newman McFarland of HopSkipDrive. In another highly anticipated session, Sam will present his learnings on leveraging machine learning to improve the manual processing of user-generated content. Phil will share insights on how to build a product that prioritizes trust and safety alongside Tyler Browne of Checkr and Dan Driscoll of HomeAway.
Our team will be joined by over 50 other speakers, who will cover topics including digital identity, payments & fraud, compliance, and product & technology innovation.
