I am a self-employed nanny who has over 20 years of experience working with children and parents. I understand that each child and situation are different. Each child has their own individual needs in order for them to grow and thrive. I've babysat for family since I was 10 years old. The week I turned 18, the bishop of my church approached me and asked if I would help with the nursery (18mon-3yrs). At the time, there were about 25 little ones and three adults including myself. I did this between semesters when I came home from college. I officially took upon the title of 'nanny' when I turned 20-21 when I began helping a family with three children: 5yr, 2yr, 3mon. My second family was a single mother of two children: 6-7yr, 3-4yr. I helped a family with one child of about 4yrs for a month. Afterwards, I took Read more a small break, becoming a custodian at a college living with my sister where I helped her with her son, 5yrs. After returning to VA, I helped another family with two children: 6yrs, 2yrs. Both children had varying levels of autism and I worked with the parents and specialty program specialist. The last family I cared for is my favorite as the parents are good friends of mine. Their child was absolutely adorable and sweet. I accidentally got their child into the BeeGees and the 70's in general. She always got up and danced whenever it came on. The only reason I couldn't stay with them was due to them moving for work and I was unable to follow. Apart from childcare, I am a decent cook. I can clean, do laundry, and transport children to and from appointments and activities. I often encourage the children to do some of these activies with me to help them learn and grow as their own person.
