Hi! My name is Devin -- I'm 23, an intersectional advocate and public speaker, professional writer and artist, a baker, and I have been babysitting and just generally caring for children ages 0 to I-Don't-Need-A-Babysitter (middle school and beyond!) for about the past 10 years. I'm the eldest of 3 kids, as well as the eldest cousin, so I have been taking care of children ever since before I was even in kindergarten! It's truly a passion of mine, and it eventually turned into something that was simply a part of my being; it's second nature to me. I'm disabled (and an ambulatory wheelchair user -- my rainbow wheelchair spokes are always a fun little surprise!), and I know ASL fairly well (signing since about 2011-2012), so if you or your child happen to sign, no worries here. One of the things that I adore the most about having the Read more opportunity to care for children is that I get to help them grow into themselves even a little, and be yet another person there to positively impact them and support them if only for a few hours. I think it's SO crucial as adults, especially those of us who are childcare workers of any kind, to keep in mind that children are simply small (sometimes less small, if they're older!) humans blossoming minds who are trying to figure out the world -- and it's always incredibly special to be able to provide them with care, and support, and a watchful eye, and fun whenever I can, and a bit of stardust along the way. I am CPR certified, well-versed in first aid, incredibly calm under pressure. I used to be a tutor, so am always willing to provide homework help. I absolutely adore pets, so if you happen to have any, I'd gladly look after them as well! If your child happens to have any particular health/access needs, I am willing and able to accommodate and provide support in most cases! (*willing* in absolutely all, "able" in most). I'm a musician who is very good at singing kids to sleep (even the fussiest babies), my healthy snack arsenal is extensive, and I am most definitely not afraid of a diaper. Overall -- I just love to help, and I love working with kids and getting to spread some light. Hopefully I can be that for you and your family! :)
