Educational Background: Doctorate of Education Master of Science (I received a Children's Bureau fellowship.) Bachelor of Science Career: Retired from university employment that involved children Volunteer Work After Retirement: Vetted by my church to be a volunteer to help with the youth ministry: Sunday School teacher of youth 3-8 years of age. Helped with youth in church's International Programs Vetted volunteer by Lutheran Family Services regarding the resettlement of 2 Afgan families. Volunteer with Kennedy Center's "Opera in the Outfield" annual event. Live-in nanny to my 2 grandsons for 7 years plus babysat for other families during that time. I believe in the importance of helping to foster a child's feelings of love, safety, and learning through having fun. I am trustworthy, dependable, love children, love to see them having fun and being happy as they grow and develop. I like to engage all of a child's senses in learning Read more and experiences by taking children to libraries, museums, parks, swimming pools, and to other available children's programs and activities as approved by the parents. (When I was in college, I became an American Red Cross certified life guard.) I have had experience in traveling with my grandsons from infancy to recently, via cars, planes, and a motorhome. I do not take cruises. I have a passport, but it needs to be renewed. I am up to date on vaccines.. Background checks: I am also vetted by my church and by the Lutheran Family Services of Washington, D.C. in the following roles: A volunteer to help with the youth ministry at my church. To become a volunteer for youth, one has to pass a background check. Our church, through Lutheran Family Services, helped with the resettlement of two Afgan families . Lutheran Family Services does a background check on all volunteers. It also does a complete, including criminal, background check on the primary volunteers, of which I was one of the designated ones from our church. Safety, care, and love of children are of prime importance to me. With my education, work, and volunteer background, I hope your family and I might be a compatible fit.
