Ever since I was a small child, "be a mom," has been my career goal. In college, I joyfully soaked up every bit of research and training I could in the field of human development (earned BS degree in MFHD from BYU '09). The past 13 years, my husband and I have raised our three kids to the point of having them all now in school everyday. So I am looking to spend more time helping other children, as there is nothing more fulfilling than nurturing tiny humans. With my own kids, we did Mommy & Me classes including swim lessons through the YMCA and Tinkergarten (mixture between Waldorf and Montessori nature-based classes). I have also served extensively with children in church, including five different times serving in our church nursery and also being a singing time leader. I am confident that not only do I know what to do Read more with young children, I know why they do what they do and therefore feel compassion and kindness in helping them. My strength is having a patient approach to teaching and playing with children. I'm also the kind of person who likes to be active, taking advantage of community resources like parks, library story times, museums, and so forth, getting out of the house and having NO screen time! Raised this way, my own three children are my best proof of success: they typically score in the top 2% academically, including qualifying for gifted services, and also get highest remarks from their teachers at school about them being a "pleasure to have in class." They have lots of friends and are healthy, well-adjusted children. I am also a true animal lover. I did 4-H growing up, winning showmanship prizes for my rabbits and also raised and sold market lambs at the county fair. I helped train a mustang we adopted through the Bureau of Land Management so I even feel comfortable around large animals! I currently have a 10 year old German Shepherd dog who I trained to the point that he won first place in an off-leash obedience class competing against 40 other dogs. Throughout my life, I have enjoyed pet cats, fish, chickens, ducks, snakes, lizards, and hermit crabs! I am knowledgeable and comfortable around any creature, great or small.
