To start, I began babysitting and nannying alongside my older sister starting at age twelve. Together we worked long term with two families. Once I was old enough and capable of doing so alone, we divided our work, each taking on a more consistent role for each home. The first family consisted of three children and a terminally ill Mom. She was bound to an electric wheelchair. It was a heartbreaking process to experience alongside her struggling kids. We were there the last time she could pronounce their names. The second family was that of Author, Shannon Hale. They had four children, two of which were twins. I was there to experience the pregnancy's ecitement, and raised them from newborn to eight years old. Because Shannon worked from home, peace and quiet was KEY! Everyday I strived to provide art projects, often based on an upcoming holiday, school topic, or Read more their favorite children's story. I prepared meals, and cleaned whenever possible, doing dishes, vacuuming, laundry, etc. Even teaching the kids to clean their toys and rooms. Besides taking part in these little lives, I worked at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. With this job I was ALWAYS teaching children about the animals. Often I did so with wriggling lizards, tarantulas, snakes and pokey hedgehogs in my hands! Infact, I even wrote and carried out two summer camp curriculums. Quick tangent...I am 1000% comfortable with pets! I've worked in security multiple times and have extensive first aide and CPR training. I worked as an officer at the Hogle Zoo, (where I was able to continue teaching curious kids when things were calm). Aside from being familiar with the animals and park, I was the one getting rammed with strollers and keeping intoxicated men out of the bear exhibits. "AKA" I've experienced it all, I'm able to stay calm, and hold my ground under pressure. Last but not least, I have a great deal of experience working with disabled individuals. As a store manager at Walgreens I had the wonderful opportunity to work with and help guide an individual with downsyndrome through day to day work. I grew up and have lived with an uncle suffering from intense autoimmune disorders and lupus. As well as these challenges he sits very far on the spectrum, and ranges around 8 to 10-years-old in mental capacity. I was one of his main caretakers during my recently deceaded grandfather's hospice.
