More than 15 years of Nanny and teaching experience. Primarily as Nanny for infants and preschoolers; often twins. I’ve taught preschool music, Kindergarten, and First Grade. I’ve also worked with older children in professional Nanny and volunteer positions; including Girl Scout SuperTroop Leader (grades K-8), Girl Scouts Day Camp Director, and positions at church (infant room through high school youth ministry). I have also provided care for children with physical, neurological, and psychological problems. Simply put: I love working with children, of every age. I find it rewarding each time they make a new discovery or learn a new skill. Games, songs, and hands-on experiences are my favorite teaching tools. DISCIPLINE STYLE: I find children primarily need instruction in self-regulation and a stable environment with understandable, fair, and reliable rules. Discipline then becomes instructional reinforcement of stated rules. Most things small children do “wrong” are the result of lack of Read more knowledge, experience, or communication. I love to help bridge those gaps: filling in holes in knowledge and guiding the child through the new experience. I find providing stability, structure, and consistency are also the best environment for creating emotional stability and resilience. Exposure to art, music, and the joy of physical activity provides the balance to that structure. Daily outings provide social interaction and a safe exposure to the bigger world. I plan outings based on the child’s interests and development level. MY INTERESTS: Crafts, sewing, music, graphic design, volunteering, and time with friends. I love going to the park and the library, being creative, and most of all: learning and teaching. OTHER: I have a stable home life (34 years married to my best friend) and an adult daughter, who lives near us. Being an empty nester, I can provide flexible hours when occasionally needed.
