My name is Anthony, I began working with children by volunteering at age 12 every summer for 5 years. I worked with children of all ages, varying from the ages of 3 months to 7 years. I began my paid working career when I was 17 at a preschool, where I was a teacher/teachers aide for three years, which incorporated a learning program for children with Special Needs. There after I was a nanny for two years, for a very loving family of five. As a nanny, I was in charge of caring for the three girls, which encompassed the overall well-being of the children, everyday household chores, cooking, and cleaning. That was then followed by a job in direct care at a community for cognitively challenged adults, teaching life skills, daily living and community outreach, where we would go out in the community in order to gear them towards Read more a more independent life style. At this community I held many roles which included Residential staff, Shift Supervisor, and Summer Camp Coordinator. Even though I enjoy those jobs/roles very much and it thought me many things, my passion has and will always be working with and teaching children, while also seeing what things the children can teach me. Currently I have been working at an elementary school for almost 4 years in the Special Education department as a Teachers Assistant in Life Skills and Behavior Support. I have hopped around a good amount but my overall work experience has stayed the same, I have always worked with children or adults and in many instances have been very intrenched in the Special Needs community. I am very goal oriented, I am a leader at heart, and I am very passionate about teaching. My hope is to continue this work and to find a family that I can help and support to meet the needs of their loved ones/child/children.
