I'm a local mom of two -- my daughter is 7 and my son is 5. They're headed to elementary school full-time this fall and I'm reopening my childcare business. Pre-kids I was a nanny for 8 years through college and early "adulthood." I traveled between 4 different families in southern MA every week and also had a few date night and weekend clients. I LOVED it! Then I had bought my first home with the dream of raising my family and opening an in-home daycare. However, once I had my daughter and went through a lot of stress adapting to being a new mom, learning how to breastfeed, and getting her on a good schedule, I realized that inviting other children into my home would only take my attention off of her which I didn't want. I've been in real estate for Read more the last 8 years (I had about 1.5 years of overlap between nannying and real estate while my daughter was little), and now that my kids are big and don't need me as much, I miss the baby stage. Our family is complete, so the next best thing is getting back into childcare. I am an experienced mom with a lot of love and time to give. I have time and energy to spare and, after some soul searching earlier this year, I realized my real passion is working with the littles and providing a trusted space for parents to feel comfortable when they're not able to be there with their kids. My home is in Cumberland, RI. It's a large cape cod style house with a large fenced in backyard space that we're working on every year. I do have a dog (a friendly 3 year old Australian Shepherd mix) that can either be exposed to the kids or not, depending on comfort level. I have a sun room that we currently use as our TV room/play room which is able to be closed off to the rest of the house and completely childproof. And I created a nursery space for naptime fully equipped with crib and toddler bed for use as needed. I have an opening for one more child this summer and will be pursuing state daycare licensing in the fall to open my home up to a few more children as well.
