I have never been a nanny, but feel that I am highly qualified for this job. I have two successful adult sons and would love to have a grandchild in my life. Being a retired special education teacher of 35 years in grades K - 6 has provided me with many experiences with children with disabilities, children in regular education classrooms and their families. My personality is one of honesty, love of children, positive attitude and care of all people. Prior to teaching I worked as a camp counselor, cashier, laundry and hotel cleaning attendant. Since retiring I have volunteered as an activities assistant at a senior residency center and I walked dogs at the SPCA. I lived in the north York area in Central York School District during my married life of 33 years. While teaching I also cared for my husband for ten years who died five years Read more ago of an auto-immune disease. I now am single and live independently in an apartment. The last two and one-half years I have worked as a paraprofessional in two school districts in various settings. I also care for/own four rescued cats. I thoroughly enjoy fostering and sharing in the growth of childrens' imagination, knowledge, language, arts and love of books and nature. Providing hands-on opportunities to engage in new experiences is essential when interacting with young children. COVID has presented many new norms currently. I am a firm believer that wearing of masks is important when indoors at places of employment and when near nonfamily members, along with social distancing. However, in caring for an infant/toddler, following the protocol of the family is important as long as adults are are following CDC regulations/suggestions outside of the home.
