Meet Deborah

I am a mother of two, a licensed Social Worker and I have currently been working as a K-12 substitute teacher in Scioto County, Ohio. The county that has consistently maintained the #1 ranking in Opioid overdose deaths since the onset of the opioid epidemic. My motivation to teach in these schools quickly became an act of compassion-- to better understand the psychological implications unique to vulnerable children, and those tasked with navigating between the immense pressures of standardized testing, daily lesson plans, and the brokenness that disrupts each classroom. It suffices to say this has, at the very least, been overwhelmingly daunting. As a skilled clinician, I feel a duty to weigh in on the gravity of the undeniable long-term effects of childhood trauma and the imminent need for a collaborative intervention. As their substitute teacher, perhaps my greatest responsibility thus far, has been to be their eyes, their Read more ears, and their voice. I have always had a passionate, purpose-driven, and inspiring personality. My sense of curiosity and drive has helped to fuel a desire to take bold steps in identifying rigorous, relevant, and viable solutions that can contribute to society in a meaningful way.
