My name is Niki Slogar, I am a 54 years old mother of a 14 year old girl. I grew up in South Russel and still reside here. I went to Chagrin Falls schools and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1986. All during high school I baby sat and I knew from the start it was something that I enjoyed and had a passion for. After high school I went to Lakeland Community College and took early childhood classes. I went on to become a full time nanny in 1996. The family had two children and when I started working for them the oldest child was 6 months old. I continued to work with the family for 11 years and left shortly before the birth of my child. I truly enjoyed my time working with the family and their two girls. It was a fantastic experience being a Read more part of the girls lives as they moved through the different stages of child development. I still remain close to their family and the children who are now adults still remain an important part of my life. From 2005 to 2007 I worked part time when time allowed from my full time nanny position as an At Home Student Aide. I assisted a child with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). I helped the child with his schooling, creative play and home activities. Helping to assist him with his day to day needs was a pleasure and his positive attitude and willingness to try his best through all of his adversity was wonderful to witness. When my daughter was in kindergarten I became a lunch recess monitor at Mater Dei Academy. In the position I was responsible for maintaining the safety protocols and enforcing the schools rules. I also coordinated play ground activities to help ensure that all children were included and it was a positive environment for all the children. Now that my daughter is headed off to high school, I am ready to start looking for a family that I can work and help create a happy and healthy environment for for the children to thrive in.
