I have a 4 year Bachelors of Social Work Degree. In my studies, there were classes I took where we studied the importance of early childhood development, as well as family development. We also did close dives into child welfare. While I was in college, I had a few jobs where I worked with children and kids. I worked for 2 different employers where I gained experience working with children (and adults) with disabilities ranging from autism to cerebral palsy. When I worked with the children I was responsible for engaging them in activities to help promote their abilities, educate, and help with emotional regulation when needed. I also worked at a daycare and was primarily in the 1 and 2 year old room. Upon graduating college I began working with a nanny agency. When I first began working there, I was placed into a full time, but temporary, position Read more with a family while their nanny was on maternity leave. I was with this family for about 2 months. This family consisted of 4 children, ages 18 months, 2, 4, and 5. I was responsible for primary care while the family was at work. Cooking, meal prep, light cleaning, and engaging them in activities. We also took several trips to the library for fun group events. After their nanny returned, I was placed into my own family full time. When I began with this family the daughter was 10 months old and the son was 2 years old. I had full/primary care over the children while both parents were at work. This included but was not limited to cooking, meal prep, cleaning, laundry, and dishes. Engaged in meaningful, educational, and playful activities. Assisted with toilet training and new infant skills such as walking and crawling. When the son began going to school, the parents would drop off and I would do pick-ups, bringing the daughter with me. I was with this family a little over a year and eventually I had to make the hard decision to leave due to financial reasons from COVID. I have currently been employed with a New England Nanny since June 2022. I first began taking small, temporary positions until I was placed into the family where I currently am. I have been with this family since August 2022. There is 1 boy who was 10 months old when I began, he will be 2.5 by the time I am leaving. Had I not had to relocate, I would have taken over care for their daughter who will be 6 months old in March. I have primary care for him while the parents work from home M-F. The boy is currently involved in physical therapy and speech therapy and I work with him on those goals as necessary. Some of our absolute favorite activities are all education based, but I also have a special love for creative activities! I have experience from both families with preparing bottles and cleaning. I am also confident in applying basic first aid when necessary. I have in the past taken a CPR and First Aid certification course, but they are expired. I am very willing to take these again if it is what a family desires! I am eager to be with a family long-term. Being able to work with children and watch them grow and learn everyday is one of my favorite parts of being a nanny.
