I first discovered my love for children while working as a teachers aid for preschool while i was in university. I worked with 3 and 4 years olds. I did arts and crafts with them first thing in the morning , and then would read stories to the class. I loved it so much that I volunteered at a homeless shelter near my university to tutor a homeless 3 year old. It was a very rewarding experience. Since then i have known that watching children grow is my passion. I later became a full time on call nanny for two years. This was much different than being a teachers aid, but i still enjoyed it. I did pick up and drop offs, meal preparation and making, I helped with homework and gave practice spelling tests. I watched sick children and administered medicine. I scheduled summer activities such as going to Read more nearby parks and amusement parks, also I planned play dates with friends for extra child socialization. We played lots of sports outside and rode our bikes often. We made arts and craft activities including friendship bracelets, sand bottle art, window holiday drawings, and of course we colored! We also had clothing assessments to make sure all clothes fit and were appropriate to wear to school, if not they got donated. We made sure the children's rooms were clean and tidy, and that their backpack and clothes for the next day were ready. We also would play organization "games" where we would keep, give away, or donate toys that weren't wanted anymore. Then we would organize and put away toys that were kept. When the parents needed to go out of town for business I would sleep over and get the children fed and on the bus in the morning. After this I moved to China for a year and traveled and taught english. I lived in Changsha, Xi'an, Zhuhai, chengdu, and guangzhou. While there I hosted holiday parties with over 80 Chinese students. It was incredible! Upon my return to the US I became a nanny and was a part time teachers aide for kindergarten and first grade. I also was a personal math tutor (2nd grade) on the side.
