Hello! My name is Marisella! I am 21 years old. I am a 3rd year student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, studying International Business. I am originally from Statesville, North Carolina. However, my mother and much of my family lives here in Orlando and im out here spending time with them for the whole summer! In 2021 I started my journey with children when an old friend of mine’s received news she was pregnant. I helped as much as I could since my friend had little-to-no support. Although before I only had slight exposure to babies, I did my best. I found a spark of interest in childcare and decided to try and help other mothers as my friend. I was able to find a family a few weeks later who accepted me despite my lack of experience. I cared for two children, 1 1/2 and 3 Read more 1/2, throughout that whole summer in 2021 and whenever I went back home during that year. In May 2022, I was able to start looking for a job again since my workload of school was coming to an end. I started working for a nanny agency in Greensboro, North Carolina; Preferred ChildCare. Thankfully, with my still minimal experience at the time, I was assigned and able to help many families! During the summer of 2022, I was assigned as a caretaker for an elementary school, Greensboro Day School, during their summer program and after-summer-camp care. I worked for many families and the school. By the end of summer, I was offered a full-time position directly from Greensboro Day and was onboarded weeks later. I have been with them since! At Greensboro Day School, my team and I focus on the well-being of our kids. Most of our kids, which ages range from 2 years old to 11 years old, are at school for 12 hours, everyday, 5 days a week. This can take a toll on some kids if healthy stimulation isn’t provided. Therefore, some issues arise that isn’t an issue during learning time, we heavily take this into consideration, and strive to create an inviting, homey, loving environment that can allow kids to be their best selves. I work specifically with the older kids, grades 3rd and 4th. I hope to take these skills and experiences I’ve been through to help families like you and provide care that is impactful!
