Hello! My name is Chandra and currently I am an elementary reading teacher of ten years and am looking to transition out of the classroom while using my passion and love of working with children to serve families in the St. Louis metro area. I have experience in working with children for 25 years. I have always found myself in working with children, either in babysitting, nannying, child care settings, and in the classroom. I have worked with newborns, special needs, and toddler to middle school aged children. I was a stay at home mom from 2002-2011 where I had micro-preemie and special needs sons so I am very capable of handling complex care needs. Skills: I am comfortable with special needs, working with early childhood learning and developmental needs, toilet training, meeting and handling therapists, taking children to appointments/classes/activities, communicating with parents, and understanding the social-emotional needs of children. Read more In addition, I am very creative and can provide structured activities, art and music lessons, can provide household management tasks (such as cleaning, cooking, pet care, shopping, and even decorating if needed). Words to describe me: I have been described as nurturing, loving, caring, patient, kind, creative, funny, consistent, and joyful by supervisors, co-workers, and families I have worked with. Certifications: Infant CPR (3/2021) through Red Cross, Early Childhood education (Birth-grade 3), Elementary Education certified (grades 1-6), and Special Needs Education certified (grades k-12). I have been trained in adult cpr in the past as well. Considerations: I have never smoked and have a super clean driving record. I am willing to take care of any types of pets and don’t have allergies. I have reliable, safe transportation. Fun facts: I have grown up in St. Louis and have a love of my city. I have two boys still at home and two cats and a golden retriever. I love St. Louis Blues hockey, music, the botanical gardens and zoo, art museums, and our local parks. I garden, read, write, decorate, paint, sew, hike, and bake in my free time.
