If you are reading this you are probably a parent of young children, and are seeking a careprovider you feel comfortable leaving your little ones with. I was in that same situation a few years ago. I will do my best here to explain my qualifications, experience, and love of children. I have two children of my own, who are now 21 and 18 years old. As a mother, I understand how important it is to find a childcare provider who is responsible, dependable and kind. While taking care of children, I'm always attentive, and provide the same quality of care that I gave my own son and daughter when they were little. Before starting my family I earned a four year degree from Concordia College. I majored in Psychology and minored in Home Economics, with an emphasis in child development. Caring for children has been part of my life Read more for decades. At the age of 9 I got my first paid job as a mother's helper. Soon after that I began babysitting for families in my neighborhood. During college I continued to babysit, and also worked at Head Start and Nokomis Child Care Center as part of my coursework. After I married and had children of my own, my house was often filled with their little friends. I've lost count of how many children I've cared for over the years! I volunteered for 13 years at a children's program at church. During my time there I worked with every age level at some point, from infants in the nursery all the way up to the high school students. Since September of 2016 I have been a part time nanny for a family in Loretto. The children are 4 and 7 years old. On average, I am with them two short days per week. These little girls are so much fun, and I really enjoy doing activities with them! Getting to know their unique personalities and forming a bond with them has been great! I've taken them on outings, brought supplies for tie dye and art projects, played games and baked cookies with them. We have had a blast! I love my job, but do want more hours. I'm a safety conscious care provider, and have taken CPR/Basic Life Saving classes. I make it a habit to be aware of potential hazards. It's common for me to help children avoid getting hurt by directing them to choose a safer option. For example, I have said, "Please chew and swallow your food before you run" in order to avoid a choking incident. When someone leaves their children with me, I make sure that my quality of care is worthy of that trust.
