Children are my passion .My daughter is, perhaps, the best testimonial i can use. She graduated from UVA in three years,, with two degrees. She, Rose, was raised with every conceivable experiences and opportunities, from baby Einstein, museums and art galleries, traveling around the world., lessons of all kinds,,and exposure to as many different aspects of life and of people. ( I started taking her with me at soup kitchens, when she was 5.) Nurture or nature? I think they both were involved equally. I taught pre- school at Potomac Nursery for all three years she attended. She was exceptionally good natured. However, I strongly believe that when a child is unhappy or “ acting out,” it is most likely stemming from hurt feelings, or being frustrated by things and concepts they may not understand right away. I attempt to make every learning experience a fun one, whenever possible. This Read more help to foster a love of learning that will hopefully last their whole lives. I also believe that play time is essential. A healthy imagination is vital for developing compassion and awareness to others. If a child can not imagine how others think or feel,, it’s bound to limit them. Reading is essential. My daughter had a love for books when she was 2. Books are all she wanted for holidays and birthdays. I’ve cared for many children since my daughter was little. I like to think of them as my own, when I am with them. It is my practice to follow parents directions.. However, I enjoy doing things that have always worked for me in the past, if and when it is appropriate. I have cared for newborns and teenagers. I have a n understanding of what each age responds positively to. And, I’m sensitive to the challenges each age represents. I have a fantastic driving record, and I love to cook and bake. It is my practice to make certain that every child I care for, is treated with dignity and respect.. I am acutely aware that being a child in this day and age, is often difficult. But, with humor and kindness, I hope to play a small positive roll in each of their lives.
