Hello, My name is Kailyn Durrett. To introduce myself, I am a highly motivated person that goes above and beyond to get the job done. I have a lot of patience and always try to communicate from a place of understanding. I am constantly looking to grow and learn. In 2017, I started working in childcare. I was in charge of making lesson plans based on themes the kids have shown interest in. Throughout the week, we would do daily activities that related to the theme, while targeting specific areas that help with child development. A few years later, I got the opportunity to be a lead Preschool teacher with a head start program. Through this experience, I’ve been able to further my knowledge in child development as well as strengthen my teaching skills. I have also taught children with autism. Aside from teaching, I also have experience working with children who have physical disabilities and developmental delays. As an aide at Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, I administered feeding tubes, put on and took off braces, and did the correct procedures for seizures. I have worked for multiple families as a nanny as well as a nanny share. I would be in charge of pickups and drop offs. feeding, cleaning, bathing, etc. I have also assisted with taking children to any after school activities they needed to attend. I have also assisted with grocery shopping, meal prep, and other errands. For occasional families who have older children, I would help with homework and music practice.
