Hi there! My name is Shay, and I graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Kinesiology. During my college career, I worked multiple jobs and babysat a family with 1 toddler, 1 preschooler, and 1 middle schooler for 4 years. I tutored multiple children and babysat my nieces and nephews (being that I am 13 years apart from my oldest brother!) In between the time that I graduated college and now, I worked for a restaurant corporation as the Chief Training Executive opening up restaurants around the U.S. When the pandemic began, I was laid off at 8 months pregnant, and ended up giving birth to my first (and only -- for now!) daughter. I was a stay-at-home mother for 15 months, and decided it was time to go back to work. I worked as the Medical Office Manager and Medical Assistant at an OB-GYN office and MedSpa while taking Read more classes at MDC to review for medical school. While it was a tough decision to make, I left a handful of amazing opportunities to focus on my studies and spend as much time as possible with my daughter. I am currently studying for the MCAT to attend medical school to become an OB-GYN. My husband travels for work and is gone most of the time, and we're hoping to have another child before I attend medical school so they will be a little older by the time school demands most of me physically. What better way to practice than babysitting/being a nanny for another child!? I currently reside in North Miami Beach, FL and as far as parenting style, we are quite holistic and motivated through play and creativity. We cook the majority of our meals, and our diet is organic/non-GMO and mainly plant based. We discourage sitting our own child in front of a TV all day, and I treat other children the same. We frequent the parks nearby (Oleta, both East and West Greynolds as we have a dog, etc.) zoos, and love doing arts and crafts! I have so much more to say but the textbox limits me!
