Greetings Guardians, I can't wait to meet you and your family and I am sure once you learn a little about me, you'll feel the same way. At this time, I work a full-time job, so unfortunately, I am only available for opportunities to provide date night or weekend babysitting. (I may be available for pick-up/drop-off or occasional weeknights, depending on the distance and my schedule) I started babysitting at age 13, giving me 21 years of childcare experience. I have worked with infants through teenagers, neurotypical children, and children with a variety of physical and behavioral needs. I am a lifeguard, with first aid, CPR, and AED training. With all my accumulated experience, I am extremely confident in my childcare abilities. I graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor's in Creative Writing and Linguistics. Since then, I have held professional positions as a camp counselor, a private swim instructor, a Read more lead teacher in a daycare setting, a religious educator with the Unitarian Universalist Church, a substitute teacher, and a housing case manager. I am currently a Housing Case Manager in a program for gay, unhoused young adults. I have a 2019 Rav4 and a clean driving record. I don't mind running errands or doing pick-up/drop-off. When there isn't something on the schedule, we can hop in the car to find a fun activity, such as going to the zoo, Smithsonian museums, and/or local parks and pools (*As a trained lifeguard and swim instructor, this is a fun and safe activity). Of course, I would never go anywhere without first getting parental permission. I am comfortable with enforcing house rules and saying no. I can eloquently negotiate and communicate with children so that they feel validated even if they're not getting their way. I come prepared with a variety of activities in mind, to ensure that the children are happy and having fun. I can be very creative and love to come up with different project/craft ideas. A little extra about myself: I am an LGBTQ+ individual and leftist. During the pandemic, I received my vaccinations and boosters. I moved to DC in 2021 so my partner could attend American Law School. She is taking the bar this summer (2024). I share 4 dogs with my partner, a Husky, a Pittie, a Havanese, and a Pomeranian. My pomeranian has been in my life for his whole 14 years and I love to bring him around with me whenever possible/allowed. I can speak Spanish at an intermediate level and American Sign Language at a novice level.
