Hi I am a 47 year old mom with a lifetime of experience taking care of newborns, babies toddlers, and preschoolers. I adore children and believe taking care of and teaching very young children is my calling. When I was 14, in 1989, I was paid $18 an hour to take care of two 2 year old twins who had cerebral palsy. I helped them with their PT exercises in the baby pool, played with them, changed their diapers, feeding, playtime, nap, bedtime, etc. I worked for that family for two years, part time, obviously, because I was in highschool. I graduated from a prestigious prep school on the east coast. And I have a degree in theatre. I was a live in nanny twice in my twenties, once for a 3 month old to a year old. And once for a 3 year old and 5 year old for Read more nearly two years. I started tutoring children at the Northside Neighborhood house when I was 16, twice a week after school for two years. To help them learn to read and help with their homework. I taught acting classes for children ages 4 to 18 for over a decade at various theatres and academies. I am kindhearted, patient, creative and fun. I taught my own son to read, through games and reading with him, by age 3 and he wrote his first simple little book at age 4. I also took care of some of his playmates when they were toddlers and we had so much fun, painting, chalk, macaroni necklaces, games, puzzles, bubbles, etc. I believe children learn from playing. Playing games, playing pretend, discovering nature and the world around them. I narrate our day for babies, as we live it, because they can learn so much of our vocabulary before they can actually speak. My son knew many animals, colors, letters, and numbers before he was 9 months old. By pointing in baby board books. That way by the time his articulators were ready to work, he already knew shapes etc. And found an easier time communicating with everyone in his world. I believe the best nannies and care givers for our children are teachers. I am a born teacher. My grandmother ran preschools and my aunt ran a Montessori school. I have an easy way with babies and preschoolers that comes naturally for me. I will be available September 1st 2022 for part time childcare in your home. Available for in person interviews July 26th . I am fully vaccinated and boosted. Non smoker, clean driving record, reliable transportation. College degree, CPR/ First Aid certified.
