I work with children on the Austin Spectrum for over 4 years now. One person impacted my life and I decided to purse my career as a special needs Teacher. My love for special needs has grown and I have no words to explain the passion I have. I love working with kids. I love to teach them, and work with their development. I’ve worked closely with Occupational therapist, Speech Therapist, and Physical Therapist. I got my BA in Psychology with a minor in Child Development. I am now working towards my Grad Degree as a Special Education teacher. My goal is to help as many families as possible and contribute to the special needs population. Here is a little about my work history. -My first job working with children was at a daycare as an assistant of the age 17 -Worked in ABA (applied behavior analysis) as a therapist Read more at an Autism Company -Got promoted to a program supervisor at the same company (where I work more to teach the therapist and also collaborate with other members:parents, Nannie’s, teachers, etc) -Work with parents and provide parent trainings -Work as a private teacher for special needs student -babysit children My experience have been wonderful each family I have worked for has been very supportive and positive. These are some experiences I’ve been part of when working for the families. -Work on an individualized plan according to the child (focus on each development milestone) -Promoting safe and nurturing environment -Learning activities -Meals/snacks/nap time routine -Community outings (I take it as an opportunity to socialize with others in the world. It promotes a socialize learning environment for the child) -Most important I communicate with the parents on (milestones or any important information that needs to be addressed). I hope I can work with you and share the passion I have with your child and your family. Luz
