Hi! I am an experienced nanny currently caring for a 4 year old and an 8 month old full-time. I have been with this particular family for 3.5 years. I am also a youth dance teacher and an Oakland Unified School District Substitute. While I have worked with children in a variety of contexts, I have always found that private childcare work lends itself to the specialized, one on one care I love to give kids. I have experience with developmental transitions from infancy to toddler such as switching to solid foods, potty training, sleep training, night weening, etc. As well as providing support, guidance and movement exercises to work towards physical milestones like rolling over, sitting up, crawling, walking, jumping, skipping, etc. I am easy going, calm and patient. I believe in setting boundaries that are clear and easy for a child to understand and I believe in being Read more as consistent as is possible while also maintaining flexibility because life, and life with kids especially, is surprising. I love to encourage play and curiosity! Whenever possible I like to follow the interests of the child. So whether they are interested in the animals at the zoo or the crack on the sidewalk leading up to the zoo, I entertain and leave room for their curiosity. I am of the thought that a child is most often acting developmentally appropriately, exploring whatever they should be, and learning all the time in small ways and big ways. My work is to be their guide, celebrate their growth, and keep them safe.
