Hello! My name is Riley Keester, and I am currently a substitute teacher looking for a summer job that will expand my knowledge and skills with children! I am a credentialed teacher with a year of substitute teaching experience, three years of babysitting, four years of camp counselor, and six years of coaching Special Olympics. I believe that my experience in teaching will translate well into nannying. Throughout my time subbing this past year, I have gained experience with a wide range of personalities and abilities. I also have six years of experience coaching athletes with special needs. With such a wide variety of people and children I have worked with, I gained an array of skills that make me a competent candidate for you! During high school, I babysat for multiple family friends and one experience sticks out in my head. I was put in a situation to babysit Read more eight children ranging from ages five to twelve in one night. After that experience I knew I wanted to teach and care for children. While growing up both of my parents were teachers, which allowed them to have the summers off. Since my parents had the summers off, they worked at a summer day camp every year for 30+ years. I attended that day camp and basically grew up there, and even considered it my second home. With both of my parents working there, I was given more responsibilities than a regular camper including parent interaction and watching campers during field trips. When I was old enough, I gained four years of volunteer experience at this day camp allowing me to work and interact with children of ages five to fourteen. We would do crafts, play multiple sports, take field trips to amusement parks and pools, and play a lot of card games. Through my part time job, I was given the privilege to be a Special Olympics coach for softball, soccer, basketball, and bocce. I facilitated practices with 30+ athletes of all physical and mental abilities. I was also able to take athletes to tournaments around Los Angeles County and supervise overnight tournaments and activities. Some of my hobbies and interests include hiking, camping, surfing, reading, gardening, and traveling. I have traveled to South Korea, Thailand, and Iceland giving me a deep understanding of multiple cultures and how they may affect family lifestyle. I look forward to meeting you!
