I've been babysitting for my nieces and nephews since age of 16 as well as having babysat in my teenage years for a 12 mo. old and 5 yr old for a mutual family friend. However, nothing prepared me more for care giving as being a first time mom last year and now with her being 18 mo. old. I feel that I've gained a much better awareness of true care-giving and nurturing. I have some college experience but for the most part my experience with care giving for children and seniors have been through family members, family friends and finally being a mother for the first time. I know and understand too well how important it is for parents or the single mom/dad to be able to still have a life outside of their children. That may mean a mom has to make the tough decision to go back Read more to work or maybe a married couple needs time to spend together but your limited in whom you can trust or afraid your children won't understand why your taking time away. As a mom I can tell you, we all need that time to be adults or economically speaking we may need to go back to work. I understand and have the same fears being a single mom of a toddler. Although, I'm still learning and taking this journey of mommie-hood, I want to say I want the best for my child and will give the same attention to a fellow mom or dad who needs that help. *I would also like to note that if given the okay I would like to bring my 18 mo old and/or may have to have her accompany just before dropping or after picking her up from daycare depending on the time babysitting is being requested. * I also may be flexible with days I can pick up early mornings and drop off in evenings, depending on if it's the weekdays/weekends my daughter is with her father's family.
