I am the son of a child psychologist and college professor. I've been lucky to grow up in an environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, kindness and adventure. I studied broadcasting and media production which has translated well to educating and managing children in academic and social/recreational environments. In grad school I achieved a multiple subject teaching credential. I've been teaching in bay area independent schools for for than 10+ years, as well as working privately for families in my school community and beyond. I love to spend my time outdoors, fishing, cooking, drawing, visiting museums, reading and doing all sorts of enriching activities. I've been an elementary classroom teacher for the last 10 years which has given me valuable perspective on the strategies and care that is most supportive to the academic and social-emotional development of children. In addition to my work in the classroom, I've spent numerous Summers as Read more a camp counselor in my early career and most recently I've spent my Summers as a full-time nanny through a staffing agency. I think my creativity and resourcefulness are two of my strongest qualities that are applicable in my work with children. I always have a collection of useful tools in my trunk, including: chalk, books/comics, fishing poles, soccer/basketballs, drawing materials, bubbles, kites, and so on. Within the home, I love to engage children in cooking by framing it as the composition of different ingredients coming together to create something yummy. My passion for music, singing, dancing, theatrics, and overall silliness have helped me to create comfort and connection. Over the years I've found so many ways to create common ground :) I am excited about this position because both children fall into the age range that I have the most experience with as a teacher and childcare provider, so there should be an easy level of familiarization. My background in entertainment/media lends itself to the theatrics and playfulness that is comforting and collaborative with the personalities of the elementary aged children. The opportunity to travel with the family sounds like an opportunity to share enriching experiences and provide a reliable flexible resource to help things run smoothly. Lastly, I embrace the opportunity to learn and nurture the important values of the family and grow into a role that allows me to contribute with my current skills and extend my skills through the experience.
