We have an almost-two-year-old toddler and an eight-week-old infant. I'd like to think that we are hands-on parents, but we could use some help.
We need someone who is able to focus on and engage the infant, which would free us up somewhat for the toddler. The sitter would also play with the toddler. The sitter should have a positive attitude and, for example, recognize when the toddler is being silly and encourage his personality. A prior nanny caused him to suppress his natural playfulness, and we want someone who will bring out our kids' personalities.
The schedule is generally in flux. We don't know what we need, but we know we need help. We aren't good about giving direction, so the right nanny will be proactive and recognize where help is needed and jump into the mix.
