Occasionally there is extra work available - washing windows, scrubbing grout on tile floors, etc. that will pay extra to have done.

I am widowed and live alone with my dog (friendly). It's not a messy house, but I do like to keep it very clean. I have a robot vacuum that sweeps to keeps the dog hair to a minimum, but the house still needs a good vacuuming every couple of weeks.
