I became a caregiver in April of 2023, because my Grammy had moved into an assisted living facility and I wanted to be involved in her care. I worked there for over a year and learned the ropes quickly. I completed 20 plus hours of online certification and the staff thought I had previous experience because of how natural it was for me. I love people to a fault, my weakness being helping too much! I strive for balance between helping and enabling, and think I have acheived that. My Grammy passed on March 19, 2024, and I was grateful for the time I got to spend with her. I received the employee of the month award within half a year of being there, and it was hard to leave. I moved from Oregon to Texas to be with my in-laws and am looking for similar part time employment. I left with a glowing letter of recommendation from my employer and they were sad to see me go.
