Helen’s Bio
Hello! My name is Helen T. I live in Country Lakes off of Crawford/Robson road in Argyle, TX. My compassion for seniors needing assistance physically and emotional support runs deep. Although, I do not have much professional experience yet (currently work 2-days a week for Visiting Angels for since Sept. in Denton,TX), I certainly possess a genuine concern and strong desire to help others in need. When my parents health conditions got to the point that they needed around the clock care, I had to put them in a Nursing Home. Through-out their stay there, at times I could not believe how they were poorly treated there, and the lack of visitors not just for my parents, but others too, with the exception maybe for Christmas some of the family members would come. Seeing this has caused my heart to be full of love/compassion for the elderly.
My Father became ill with diabetic nerve pain & schizophrenia. He was a (legal) refugee who escaped the Hungarian Revolution in 1957. I helped care for him at his home until his condition got worse, and had to be placed in the nursing home. He passed away at 70. I cared for my mother in my home for nearly 1-year when she was stricken with cancer; she passed away at 58. 3-years ago, I lost my sister at 52, who had many illnesses. I removed her from the assisted living facility in N.C., because of the abuse she suffered there. I brought her here into my home until we could get her into a nursing home. Her condition worsened almost daily to the point she could not do practically anything for herself. It took nearly 6-months to get her into a nursing home (she died two days after going in to that nursing home) because of the government regulations regarding Medicaid availability in Texas. Therefore, I had no choice but to care for her. She had 6-types of diseases. My sister was a heavy smoker and became a severe alcoholic for many years after losing her only child in a car accident and losing her husband to suicide. I am convinced this is why she became very sick early in life. Thank God I am a healthy, upbeat, hardworking individual with no known diseases.
I would do very well in this type of setting because I truly care about people’s well- being. It is not just a job for me, but fulfilling and rewarding. I have 2-part-time online business from home that I do at my convenience. I am currently caring for two seniors until the end of May (2018). Will provide references from them.
