Hello! I am a native Texan and I have great compassion for the human race. I grew up in Dallas and earned my teacher degree from Texas Tech University. I chose this degree because I wanted to be a public servant and help others. Upon graduation, I taught school for several years and then married. Once I had my children, I chose to stay home so I could care for them and my aging parents and grandmother. This required taking my dad to dialysis and helping care for my grandmother whenever my mother was busy with my dad. My patience helped create a loving environment and I believe they never felt they were a burden to me because I always cared for them with kindness and empathy. It seems everything I assisted them with had to be done with great patience which the good Lord blessed me with so they were always happy and content. :) Taking time for meaningful conversations which focused on their memories and feelings became an important part of their care too since so many of their loved ones had passed on.
Additionally, I cared for my friend's sister who was 79 and suffering from dementia. I assisted her with cooking, decorating, shopping, appointments and the necessary things to make her life easier as well as the family members who didn't have enough time. Once again I made sure to include many conversations when I cared for her and kept the focus on topics which mattered to her. It was a great experience and we developed a strong friendship. I found it very rewarding to bring happiness into her life and home as she struggled with her memory.
For the past 7 years I have been a lead teacher and taught a drama class for preschoolers through elementary school. It was a wonderful experience and a blessing to see each child's creativity. Unfortunately, these classes are no longer meeting with the current situation.
My interests include cooking, decorating, gardening, reading and enjoying life with my family and friends!
