I have worked at Saint Barnabas Nursing Home and Morning Pointe Assisted Living Services for about 6 years as a part time receptionist. I have enjoyed working with both children and adults as a teacher and helper. I love people and enjoy being needed. I have taken care of my parents and provided transportation to doctors, hairdressers etc. I am a very patient and caring person having taught school, served as a counselor, tutor, and Reading Specialist for 38 years. I understand dementia, alzehimers, and Parkinson's since members of my family have or have had these diseases. Everyone needs a companion or friend as they travel through this journey of life.
I am certified CPR trained. I have a BS and Masters Degree in Education, Counseling, and Supervision and Instruction. I was employed by Marion County School Systems as a teacher, counselor, Safe and Drug Free Schools Director, Family Resource Director, and Support Programs Coordinator. I tutored the children of Alton Park in an after school federal program, I worked with families and residents of Saint Barnabas Nursing Home in the role of a part time receptionist. I enjoyed this position because I could bring some joy into the lives of the residents. I have also loved my friends in the Assisted Living Program at Morning Pointe. I enjoy being with older people because they appreciate the time you spend with them. They have very interesting stories to tell. Our society wrongly devalues older people and forgets just how important they are.
