Cassie’s Bio
Hello! My name is Cassie, I'm 24 years old, and I live in Kansas City, MO (near Zona Rosa). I've worked for the University of Kansas as an Academic Success Navigator for two years now - I work from home and absolutely love my job! Prior to working at KU, I worked at a library which I absolutely loved as well (I'm an avid reader and collect books). Before that, I worked in childcare for over seven years.
I do not have any professional care companion experience, but my work experience, education, skills, and personal characteristics have prepared me to excel in such a role. I have provided more details below.
I have a Bachelor's degree from Park University, where I majored in Psychology and minored in Social Work. I also have an Associate's degree (General Studies) from Metropolitan Community College.
I am CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (both pediatric and adult). I have reliable transportation and a very flexible schedule, thanks to my remote job. I am comfortable with pets (I have 2 cats myself) and I have experience pet sitting (dogs and cats).
In my free time, I enjoy crafting - I love making homemade birthday/holiday cards and gifts for my loved ones. I also enjoy tending to my plants, reading, coloring, listening to music + attending concerts, going on walks outdoors, playing video games, cooking (and eating!), playing board games with friends/family, and more.
Additional details:
- In my current job at KU, I regularly work with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, which provides noncredit, recreational courses/events for adults aged 50+. I frequently assist its elderly members with registration and the course selection process, and I have built strong, companionable relationships and connections with many long-term/frequent attendees
- While working at the library, I frequently interacted with and assisted many elderly individuals. I would provide technical support and assist with computer/office equipment usage, assist with navigating the internet and performing research/virtual tasks, provide info/education on various health/community resources and services, and much more
- Relevant coursework for my Social Work minor from Park University: Adult Development & Aging, Cognitive Psychology, Positive Psychology, and more
- Along with my Bachelor's degree, I also have a certificate in "Skilled Adult Helping" from Park University. Coursework was related to adult development, life + career guidance/coaching, counseling, and more
