Hello! My name is Allison Durden and I am currently in cosmetology school during the weekdays with nights available. Before moving to Michigan, I lived in Ohio, where I gained my Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology. While going through school, I worked at a home care agency where I was assigned clients to look after. Some of the duties included making sure clients took needed medications at the correct time, bathing, hair needs, making sure they had lunch/dinner and simply being someone they could talk to. During that time, I had a total of 4-5 clients. When I moved to a Michigan, I began working at Children Services as a Family Preservation Worker. I would assist families in teaching basic needs for children and building healthy relationships between the child and the parent. Some of my duties included communication exercises, identifying coping mechanisms, identifying effective decision making skills, making sure the children were in a healthy and safe living environment, assist with gaining housing and resources for food/toiletries/assistance programs.
