Rachel’s Bio
Hey there! I’m Ms.Rachel Lynn McMillian. I work as a Preschool teacher during the week. I’m also in level 3 of the Maryland child care credential program. I enjoy teaching but my career goal is to own my own learning center someday.
I have over 10 years of experience in Working with children. It’s always been my passion and chosen profession. I often find myself attached to children I work with. I get much comfort in caring for children and teaching them new things. I love being there for them emotionally and academically. While attending Laurel High School, I took advantage of Child Development courses. I completed Child Growth & Development 1, 2, & 3 and enjoyed the entire experience. This program was the perfect “head start” opportunity for my childcare career.
In Child Development 1, there were children from an actual daycare center who came to our classroom. This gave us hands on experience in teaching. We learned how to complete lesson plans and work with children in small groups. In Child Development 2, I completed an internship at Laurel Elementary School. I worked in the first grade classroom. The teacher was my mentor, and she evaluated my teaching and work performances. The teacher also graded me on how well I interacted with the children. I completed lesson plans and had to teach the classroom myself some days to show what I learned. When Child Development 3 came around in 2011, I was hired as an aide at a daycare. The center loved my work and they decided to keep me after the internship was completed. I graduated high school in 2012 as a certified Preschool Teacher.
I have worked in early childhood development centers from 2012- Present. All certificates have been renewed at Prince Georges Community College. I am certain that your little ones will be safe with me!
