I am 46 years old I have worked with special needs for over 10 years in the school system I recently left to continue part-time with an adult individual with Down’s syndrome for community development and respite care. I have 3 kids 29, 15, and 13 my youngest is autistic. I’m CPR certified thru the safety cares management(used to be CPI) and the Arc of greater Chesapeake. I have thought about going back in the fall with the school system because I love working with these individuals but after spending more time outside the school with my family and the young lady with Down’s syndrome I think I need to venture out and find families in need of just a moment to themselves I know how hard it is with my own son and finding someone to trust to care for his needs and fears of anyone new. Summer time I am looking for part time around the couple days i travel to my current individual but in the fall could be more after my son goes back to school.
