I’m Jo (Johanna) a 42/f, mother of 3 beautiful children, wife to my amazing husband of 19 years.

I’m the oldest of 5, and helping with my younger siblings is what started my love of being in a caregiving role.

I became a mom at 19, and have always been able to stay home to care for our kids. Over the years I have also been a full time, around the clock caregiver and companion to each of my 4 grandparents. My paternal grandparents lived with us for 8 years and I provided all of their personal and medical care, even acting as the primary support during palliative care/hospice which took place in our home. I was responsible for their appointments, administering meds, social appointments, shopping, and general care.

I have worked part time here and there and volunteered in companionship roles for elderly in my community as well.

As an Auntie to 16 kids and babies all under age 9, and my two young sons still needing me at 7 & 10, I’m regularly receiving hands on training!

I’ve always just loved spending time with kids and am very nurturing. My nieces and nephews call me their “fairy godmother auntie,” because they say I am so fun. I think I have even more fun than they do!

I’d describe myself as patient, loving, caring, empathetic, loyal, understanding, calm, respectful, supportive, and fun. I’m a great active listener, no matter the age of the person to whom I’m speaking with or subject matter- I love to learn about people. I am someone you will learn can be counted on- always.

I love working with all ages, I have experience with typically developing people/babies/kids and those with delays and/or other issues.

I have experience with chronically ill senior citizens who need personal care assistance and companionship and social stimulation. I have some familial experience with Alzheimer’s/Memory Care patients, also those recovering from TBIs.

I also have experience with providing sober companionship and support to those in recovery, and those still dealing with PAWS or withdrawal issues while initially recovering after a medical detox.

I am a good cook, a great listener, and a fun, responsible companion. I enjoy arts and crafts, games, reading, movies, taking walks, listening to stories, music, and learning new things.
