I am writing to apply for the part time Caregiver/ Companion position. I am confident that my education, work experience and skills make me a very suitable candidate for this position.
I am currently employed as a Social Service Coordinator at a HUD senior independent living facility, which also houses people with disabilities. In this role I facilitate varied and meaningful programming, event planning and coordinate services to the multi-cultural resident composition of the building. I also assist the senior residents with their SNAP applications, redetermination, Medicare, obtain RTA and discounted license plate by applying through the IDoA Benefits Access program, do community outreach work to bring resources for the residents, coordinate homemaker and other services for our senior residents, etc. My responsibilities include providing referrals for various services that the residents would benefit from. My experience in working with seniors and people with disabilities include that of being a Community Care Coordinator for seniors. I have also worked as an Adult Protective Services Case Manager and Investigator. My work experience primarily has been in human services and nonprofit organizations, and includes working in the field of social work, case management, education, recruitment and job placement, health and human services. I have always met reporting deadlines, been flexible and provided superior customer service (for which I was recognized when I worked as a Registrar at Northwestern Lake Forest hospital). I find that wherever I have worked, I bring the following to the table:
