Greetings. My name is Michael Lawton and I am a recent graduate from the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Middle Georgia State University. I am BLS and CPR certified. As a student, I have acquired the knowledge and academic training to support people in need for rehabilitation therapy. I have fieldwork experience at a long term care facility for senior citizens where I have learned from other occupational therapy assistants and occupational therapists while having the ability to utilize what I have learned from school such as ADL training, bathing, grooming, medication management, increasing range of motion, transferring, meal preparation, cooking, ambulation, improving function, and participating in leisure activities within their daily lives.
On the personal side, I am married raising three daughters. I do have personal care experience as I currently work part time taking care of a 16 year old male who has cerebral palsy. My duties entail feeding, bathing, grooming, and dressing him. I also assist him with transfers and all of his ADLs along with performing light housework as well.
