Hi, my name is Katie. I'm 37 years old and I absolutely love working with seniors. I have eleven years of experience working with elderly clients as a Certified Nurse Aide. I've held multiple CNA jobs over the years, and one of my most recent jobs was working full-time with an elderly client afflicted with Alzheimer's. I was with her for fourteen months, until she needed to move, and my services were no longer needed.
While working as a Nurse Aide for a senior client for a period of 14 months, I was responsible for overseeing her hygiene, meal preparation, upkeep of laundry, medication administration, supervision and management of her Nebulizer (breathing treatment) use, assisting her through frequent bouts of depression and aggressive tendencies. I am so grateful to have learned about how significantly helpful it is to use music as a therapeutic tool. Throughout the period that I worked with this sweet client, when this was utilized early enough on in the times of her personal struggles, I found that I could consistently and successfully utilize the music therapy to calm her when she was mentally and/or emotionally distraught. This particular client was routinely physically aggressive towards myself and her two daughters, however, once I began to utilize music therapy correctly and timely, I could keep her calm enough that physical aggression could be avoided completely -for that day, at least. I saw visibly calming effects in her face, even within her voice. I've sat with several clients on their death beds and grieved with their families at their funerals.
I don't smoke and have received CPR certification for adults as well as infants and children.
I do not offer driving services; however, I do have reliable transportation to and from work. I have a Resume as well as references and reviews prepared, and available upon request.
