Teresa’s Bio
Hi, I'm Teresa,
I have over 30 years of experience providing care, including raising 3 children of my own. I have 2 sons, exactly 20 Months apart, and a daughter who was born 9 years later. All 3 of my children have or are pursuing a college degree. I was a homemaker and volunteered for 6 years as my sons' cub scout pack leader. I oversaw the troop, of over 40 boys between 1st-5th grade, during meetings, activities, and weekend camping trips. I received appropriate training including first aid and safety.
Other experience:
*I began babysitting at 14 years old after school and on weekends for multiple families till I graduated Highschool and started my own family.
*I've spent the past almost 8 years, from April 2015- November 2022 providing 24/7 in-home care for a bedbound long-term home care recipient. I passed the state level 2 background check for this position and I have a family reference for the care I provided her.
I am an active grandmotherly type of sitter. I am comfortable and confident with all ages and multiple children. The key to my success is spending quality time implementing games and activities that are genuinely fun. It keeps the children entertained in one spot and provides various learning opportunities. Examples are: Making cookies from scratch; arts and crafts; Outside games like ball, scavenger hunts, simon says, or silly adventures using our imagination; Inside games: like story telling, board games, bean bag toss, coloring and molding clay. I spend will spend the majority of the time doing hands on activities accommodating the children's interests.
Other skills: I can cook meals; light housekeeping during naps/homework; care for family pets and general tasks that will give you more time for the children or a minute to yourself.
I have open availability and work 7 days a week. I can do routine scheduling; one time scheduling; I try to accommodate urgent same day and/or immediate scheduling. I also offer late night care/overnight care & assistance for new mothers.
I suffer from some hearing loss; I currently have hearing aids and I have a new pair being made. It does not hinder the quality of care I provide. I am learning ASL and can teach it to children who are in my care, if desired.
For questions, more information, to schedule a meet and greet, to request references, or to inquire about scheduling please contact me at Caring4ourcommunity@yahoo.com
Sincerely,
Teresa Pate
