Kathryn’s Bio
Hello there!
I have 20 years of experience working with children, adults, and seniors -aka-the young at heart. I have had the pleasure of caring for individuals with a variety of special needs (including autism, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, etc.), I have truly loved every moment in human services and direct care. My experiences include working in group home settings, private in-home care, a traumatic brain injury social-behavioral rehab, and care facilities as a private family caregiver.
I’ve had the privilege of working as the Life Enrichment Director (2012-2017) at downtown St. Petersburg’s active senior living residence, The Princess Martha, where I designed and implemented a comprehensive activities program targeted to the intellectual, physical, and psychological health of all residents. I held music groups, writing and poetry workshops, organized events + outings, etc, and had the honor of learning from the wisdom and experience of seniors.
I hold an A.A. with biological science concentration and am a senior at USF, finishing up my BA in social work. I enjoy reading, advocacy, poetry+writing, gardening, photography, cooking, conversation, a wide variety of music, and just having fun! I have a certificate in integrative mental health which included extensive studies in gerontology.
I am experienced in memory care, feeding/bathing/mobility assistance, transferring, medication assistance, and general housekeeping. Compassion, kindness, and respect of dignity + privacy are of utmost importance to me as a caregiver. I love to laugh, and I laugh a lot. I treasure the opportunity to help put a smile on someone’s face!
