I am a down-to-earth, faithfully churchgoing, single mother who enjoys working with and tending to children, as well as older adults. Although I have no experience with animals, I do not mind them and will care for them with equal conscientiousness. My son, Ronald, is 28 years old and attends college at Colorado State University. The reason for this application is because I paused my graduate-level studies at the University of West Florida (UWF) to look for a job and build up my savings. As I'm sure you can imagine, out-of-state tuition is extraordinarily expensive and I will have to reload my income before I can resume graduate school.

My hobbies include high-intensity exercising, running, nature, simple meal preparation, and teaching. Recently I started learning how to swim. I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Microbiology from Colorado State University. I also hold an Honorary Doctorate degree from Denver Urban Institute. For seven years I worked at the University of Colorado Hospital, in the clinical laboratory doing medical research (seventeen years total including the hospital laboratory in Botswana). I am a Goodwill Ambassador with the United Nations, bestowed on me by United Nations Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers.

I lived in Colorado for twenty-two years and Pensacola, Florida since August 2022. In Denver, while serving as one of the pastors at Open Door Fellowship Church, I babysat children under six years old while their parents attended church. Additionally, I moved in to take care of an elderly woman with terminal cancer who preferred being at home rather than hospice.

In August 2022 I moved to Pensacola to attend the University of West Florida’s Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program. The program was a great fit for me considering my experiences at Open Door Fellowship Church. I was often exposed to both the traumatic and non-traumatic needs of women, children, and men who came through our doors, some of those needs dire and complex.

My time so far in UWF's graduate program and my pastoral experience at ODF has dramatically improved my ability to better understand, have compassion for, and have patience with, all kinds people in all kinds of conditions in life.
