I have recently graduated from Regis University (in December of 2020) with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Applied Psychology. Shortly after graduating I accepted a temporary job as a Care Coordinator where I provided 24-hour on-call emergency crisis intervention to adults who were living with a chronic mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders.
As my temporary job came to an end, I accepted a position as an Administrative Assistant, where I currently assume on-site Human Resource responsibilities; however, I would love to be given the opportunity to be a full time caregiver. I procured my degree in Psychology (with the intention of furthering my education) so that I might listen, assist, and essentially "be there" for individuals who just need someone to talk to, someone who will listen, and someone to spend time with.
I consider myself an "old-soul"; my grandparents were my best friends and my fondest memories are the ones with them. Over the past decade, I spent quality time with them doing various activities, including, but not limited to, going on walks, playing computer games, watching movies (mostly at home), building puzzles, grocery shopping, eating supper together, and occasionally taking vacations together. I enjoyed every moment - even if it was something as simple as being in the same room together reading a book. After my grandmother passed, it became even more imperative for me to be there for my grandfather; we spent every possible moment on the phone together (I had relocated from Colorado to Florida) - I knew he was lonely (and heartbroken) and just needed an ear to listen; hours would go by as he talked and I listened, and sometimes, that's all people need.
All my life, my grandparents described me as "perceptive". I am certain that my perception has aided me throughout my personal and professional life where I have accrued over 10 years of work experience and learned valuable skills such as the importance of being dependable, adaptable, and interpersonal. In both my academic and professional life, I have been consistently praised as "a great listener" by my professors, peers, coworkers, and superiors. Whether working on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, I apply attention to detail, as well as critical and analytical thinking skills. I am also competent and compassionate, and I look forward to being provided the opportunity to perform above expectations as a full time caregiver.
