Sharon’s Bio
I’m a Health Care Professional for 30-plus years. Of those 30-plus years, I have worked as a CNA, in Activities for over 18 years and most recently in Sales and Marketing. My work environments have ranged from skilled nursing/nursing home, Assisted Living and Memory Care communities . I come with a wealth of knowledge, compassion and experience. I love what I do and take pride in it.
Dementia and Alzheimer’s is the area I chose to specialize in since I lost my mother in 1997 at the age of 53 years old to a very rare form of the disease, Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease. She passed away 2 months after her diagnosis and my siblings and I took care of her until the end. I began educating myself so that I could help others dealing with all forms of dementia. I am a Certified Dementia Practitioner as well as a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer. I like to educate families/caregivers so they can understand the disease process to better care for their loved one. I also completed my training as a Certified Montessori Dementia Professional to better understand this approach with our dementia population. As a Dementia Support Group Facilitator it allows me to provide emotional support and resources to families.
I have a level 2 background screening as required by the state to work in healthcare. I am certified in CPR, basic life skills and first aid and a Med Tech. I’m a Certified Activity Professional and like to create meaningful activities for those living with dementia. I would love to be a companion/caregiver for someone with dementia to provide the caregiver with peace of mind so they can work, run errands, or just take a break. Keeping your loved one home for as long as possible with in-home care is important and I can provide my services for you to do so as long as possible.
