I recently lost my 88 year old father. I spent many years, especially the last three, helping care for him. I brought him to doctor appointments, to the mall, to nature preserves, and anything in between. I am now doing a bit of the same for my 101 year old great aunt. What I’ve realized over the years is how much I truly enjoy spending time with Seniors. They are full of life stories and wisdom. They’ve worked hard their whole lives and it saddens me that some get to a point where they can’t be as independent and they don’t have enough people around to help them do what they would like to do.
I have been a High School teacher for learning disabled students for 14 years. I am at a point in my career where I am considering transitioning to a position where I can work and make a difference in an elders daily life.
I am extremely patient and empathetic.
