My name is Carolyn. I'm a youthful, highly educated 60 year old woman who has lived in the NW Corner of CT for nearly 20 years.
Most of my adult life was spent as a self employed riding instructor and horse trainer. For over a dozen years, parents trusted me with the safety and well being of their children at my exclusive little riding school in Purdys, NY. I taught riding lessons and hosted afterschool activities for children of all ages. I even worked with special needs children. My charges spent entire days and weeks with me during summer camp. Most challenging was the supervision of the children and their mounts while away at potentially stressful venues like horse shows and hunter paces. I prided myself on my patience and an ability to keep my students organized and safe, while still having fun. The importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and a respect always for the animals, were amongst the life lessons imparted to my kids.
I took a break from the horse industry after my divorce in 2009. I've raised my son alone since he was four. He is 18 now and an honor student, who is in college.
I began working as a nanny and babysitter when my son was young, because this allowed me to have him with me. I nannied for one little girl, in a live-in capacity from the time she was born until she was nearly two. I also cared for her 7 year old sister. The children thrived in my care, and I only left as the family was moving. References are available.
In recent years I've performed everything from elder care to pet care. Im great with dogs. I also have have a tremendous soft spot and respect for older people. I dote on several elderly neighbors who enjoy my help in their garden, and recently worked for an agency based in Salisbury Connecticut that specializes in elder care. I was given a background check, took a comprehensive course and was certified to perform this work. The clients were very happy with me,
but I felt undervalued and frustrated by the management.
I would prefer to work directly for a family without having to deal with the politics of an agency.
I am extremely reliable, very organized and hard working. I can cook, am adept at cleaning and I am an avid gardener. I adored being a mother to my own child and am very comfortable with infants.
My hours are flexible. I am a non smoker who is in extremely good health.
